Israelis optimistic about salaries in 2008

פברואר 7, 2008. Globes: Shai Niv
Israelis are optimistic about the domestic labor market, despite concerns that the shekel's appreciation against the dollar might cause lay-offs and that global stock market volatility may indicate a recession. A survey by Mutagim Consulting for Manpower Israel Ltd found that a majority of Israeli Jews think that their salaries will rise this year, even rise handsomely.

The survey found that 52% of employees expect to get a pay raise, and that the expected average pay hike is 13%. 40% of respondents expect a pay hike of 1-5%, 31% expect a pay hike of 6-10%, 18% expect a pay hike of 11-20%, and 11% expect a pay hike of more than 20%.

Mutgaim found that 20% of respondents predict that they will get a pay raise every three to six months, which may explain why employers find that so many of their employees live in the constant belief that they deserve more.
