Employment Service: Number of job seekers down
The job seeker rate has now reached a five-year lowThere were 192,700 jobseekers in November 2007, compared with 195,900 in October and 209,000 in November 2006, the Israel National Employment Service reports. The figures do not include seasonal factors such as holidays.
Seasonally adjusted figures show that the number of job seekers decreased by one tenth of a percentage point in November. The jobseeker rate has now reached a five-year low.
The number of non-academic jobseekers, excluding income support claimants fell by 1.2%. The number of jobseekers claiming income support rose by 0.7% while the number of academic jobseekers fell by 1.8%.
There were 17,700 new jobseekers in November, of which 61.4% had lost their jobs, and 16.7% were income support claimants.
