אוקטובר 25, 2010. Globes: Tzahi Hoffman

Israel's high-tech industry is back on track, with many companies expanding, according to a survey for the third quarter of 2010 by Ethosia Human Resources Ltd. The survey examined short-term job trends at companies, and found that most are expanding their operations, hiring employees at various levels, and, in some cases, raising salaries.

Ethosia CEO Eyal Salomon said, "At the start of the third quarter, we saw a big spurt in demand for new positions listed with us. The daily average of new jobs rose by 15% in July and August, and the trend strengthened in September by 40%."

Ethosia said that many companies plan to hire over the coming years. 36% of companies said that planned to hire at least 10 employees and 20% of companies said that they planned to hire more than 40 employees. This intention to hire applies mostly to small and mid-sized companies.

31% of companies with more than 100 employees said that they planned to increase their workforce by over 20%.

Ethosia said that software developers were one of the most sought-after professions.

Salaries are another indicator of growth by the high-tech industry. Most companies expect to keep salaries at their current levels. 34% of companies said that they will likely increase salaries by up to 5%. Companies in the life sciences, software, and semiconductor industries said that they will likely increase salaries by up to 10%. Conversely, 20% of Internet companies said that salaries would be cut.
