Average salary rises
The average gross salary in Israel in July was NIS 8,602, the Central Bureau of Statistics reported today. After allowing for seasonal influences, the average salary in fixed terms and on an annualized basis, rose by 1.2%, and by 2% in terms of current prices.
In addition the number of salaried employees rose by 2.4% on an annualized basis to 2.952 million. The data was compiled from a sample survey of employers about jobs and salaries conducted by the National Insurance Institute.
By branches the salary of Israel Electric Corporation (IEC) (TASE: ELEC.B22) and Mekorot Water Company employees was the highest in the economy with an average of NIS 26,699 per month, while the average salary in the finance sector was NIS 15,243, and the average salary in the public administration sector was NIS 13,090. Once again the average salary was lowest at NIS 3,967 in the accommodation and catering sector.
