Financial sector salaries jump
The average gross monthly salary in the financial sector rose by 6.9% in the third quarter of 2009 compared with the preceding quarter, the Central Bureau of Statistics reported today.
The average national gross monthly salary rose by just 0.6% over the same period.
The average national gross monthly salary was NIS 8,227 in the third quarter. The number of salaried employees rose by 0.4% in the third quarter compared with the preceding quarter.
Were it not for the rise in financial sector salaries, the average national gross monthly salary would have fallen sharply. Salaries in all other sectors of the economy were lower in the third quarter than in the second quarter, with agricultural workers suffering the steepest drop - 5.3%.
