Job openings rise
The Central Bureau of Statistics today reported a 15% increase in the number of available jobs in September 2009, compared with the preceding month, a day after announcing that the unemployment rate declined to 7.6% in August.
The Central Bureau of Statistics conducted a special survey in preparation for Israel's ascension to the OECD. The survey found 49,400 available jobs in September, up from 42,000 in August. There were slightly fewer available jobs in August than in July. Trend figures indicate a steady increase in available jobs from the 38,700 available jobs in May.
The number of jobs in the construction industry increased by 2,100 in September, followed by 1,900 new teaching jobs, 1,300 new jobs in manufacturing, and 1,200 new service jobs.
