Secretarial jobs attract most job seekers
Among the competitive positions are firefighters and librarians.
Second on the list were high-school teaching jobs with 1,410 applications, followed in third place by special education teaching jobs with 1,120 applications, both of which were affected by seasonal demand. High-tech jobs, law, and accounting were not in the top most sought after jobs in August.
Alljobs' research department also mapped out the three professions for which competition is relatively high, meaning that the number of applicants applying for the positions vacant was the highest of all the professions on offer.
The most competitive position of all was firefighter, with 157 applicants competing over three jobs. In second place was events coordinator, with 201 applications competing for five jobs, followed in third place by librarian, with 13 positions and 468 applicants.
