Manpower: Demand for senior staff up

ינואר 23, 2007. Globes: Shay Niv
Demand for senior staff was 24.8% higher in 2006 than in 2005, although overall demand for workers rose by just 2.3%, Manpower Professional Ltd. reports. The company attributed the sharp increase in demand for senior staff to the fact that they are hired in the second wave of business growth, which picked up pace in 2005.

“The data conform to recent forecasts published by Manpower Inc. (NYSE:MAN), which indicate that we’re witness to a global shortage of skilled senior managers, including in Israel,” said Manpower Professional manager Sheli Saar.

Data for the fourth quarter 2006 actually indicates a slowdown in demand for senior managers. Demand was 15.2% higher compared with the corresponding quarter of 2005. Manpower predicts that demand in the first quarter of 2007 will be the same as in the preceding quarter.

In a separate development, the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor has published a comprehensive survey that indicates 43,000 available positions in the fourth quarter of 2006 - a 17.4% increase over the preceding quarter, and 23.8% higher than in the corresponding quarter of 2005.
