75% of high-tech companys to recruit employees
75% of Israeli high-tech companies will hire staff during 2010, hiring about 2,000 people altogether, according to a survey by Prof. Moshe Zviran of Tel Aviv University.
92% of companies said that they hired new employees during the second half of 2009, for a total of 3,500 employees, 4% of all employees. The rate of recruitment is nevertheless well below the pre-crisis levels.
Zviran says that fewer high-tech companies are in trouble compared with 2009, and therefore only 16% of companies are planning layoffs during the first half of 2010. Most of the layoffs will be at small and mid-sized companies. In contrast, 80% of high-tech companies laid off employees in the second half of 2009.
Zviran also expects the average salary in high-tech to rise by 4% in 2010.
