Senior Software Engineer

What is the role?

The person in this role will be responsible for delivering the core platform architecture and end-to-end functionality of our modern mobile apps, as well as preparing the platform for future products such as web applications and machine learning-based matching services.

We are looking for a person who is passionate about technology, security, stability, scalability, data integrity - and if you love intimacy and depth, that’s a bonus.

This role will report directly to the CTO, playing a key role in the company;for the right person, there will also be equity options in the business.

Responsibilities

Work with development teams and product managers to ideate software solutions
Design client-side and server-side architecture
Build the back-end of mobile applications (Android and iOS)
Develop and manage well-functioning databases, micro-services and applications
Write effective APIs
Test software to ensure responsiveness and efficiency
Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade software
Create security and data protection configurations
Build features and applications based on a mobile-first approach and product requirements.
Write technical documentation
Work with data scientists and analysts to improve software

What are the skills and qualities we are looking for?

Proven experience as a Backend Developer or similar role
Previous experience working in scalable server-side programming for mobile apps.
Working Knowledge of multiple back-end languages (e.g. PHP, Java, Golang, Python) and JavaScript frameworks (e.g Angular, Node.js)
Knowledge of multiple front-end languages and libraries (e.g. HTML/ CSS, JavaScript)
Experience with AWS Cloud / Docker / Kubernetes would be a bonus
Adherence to a strong DevOps, CI/CD pipeline management mindset
Familiarity with databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MongoDB), web servers (e.g. Nginx) and UI/UX design
Familiarity with Data Science methodologies (e.g ML, AI, NLP) would be a bonus
Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Degree in Computer Science, Statistics or relevant field
