Almost everything we eat, wear or use is shipped or flown by the global freight industry, but its technology is stuck in the ’90s... and we’re changing that. Beyond helping thousands of companies worldwide, we’ve raised over $100 million from top tier investors, including strategic industry leaders, and have gotten the BBC, TechCrunch, and the Wall Street Journal excited about freight in the process.
Who are we? Besides super clever and huge fans of freight jokes? Well, we’ve built the world’s largest global freight booking platform, expanding world trade by connecting thousands of logistics providers, airlines, ocean liners, manufacturers, and retailers. Over ten thousand importers, nearly every top thirty global freight company, and companies like Alibaba.com all get ship done with us.
While we help the world move, we need to make sure we dot our t’s and cross our i’s. So we’re looking for a talented attorney who can juggle several balls at once (dare we say chainsaw?) and bring creative legal and business solutions to some of our biggest opportunities.
The road to your success in the role relies on great communication and organization skills mixed with the ability to go with the flow, strong Pokemon Go skills (but willing to let that one go), the ability to think creatively and assertiveness (with tact). You’ll work with both internal stakeholders (see, we do use fancy business words too) as well as partners and customers to draft and negotiate commercial agreements, while advising business partners on opportunities, risk, and whether their virtual Zoom background is kinda “eh”. All because you understand that we are in business to provide services that our customers need and love - or at least appreciate.
You will work with cross-functional teams, from geeky accountants to high-powered sales people, self-centered marketers who entertain themselves by throwing lines like these into job descriptions, software engineers with mad skillz and customer service associates to help ensure that the company acts ethically and legally.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Provide timely and efficient legal advice to management, sales, product development, marketing, finance and HR teams. You can even advise them on whether to use roman numerals in lists or not. We hope you stick with not.
Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, such as data privacy and, well, the law.
Assist with developing and overseeing company policies on industry-specific issues, corporate governance or regulatory affairs.
Support corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions (or M&As, as the cool kids say).
If a contract is negotiated and lost, is it really a contract? You’ll help us stay on top of our game by maintaining and improving systems and workflows for managing contracts and compliance.
Stay up-to-date on legal developments and conduct legal research.
Assist with statutory filings, licensing forms, company registration, trademarks and legal name changes of our pet fish. Obligatory disclaimer: we do not yet have any pet fish.
Liaise with outside counsel regarding their assignments.
At least 2 years of legal practice: commercial or corporate law at a law firm or inhouse
Qualified to practice law in Israel/ the US / European country
Experience working with or in a technology company; using Gmail doesn’t really count
Understanding of legal issues and business needs and how to balance them
Organized, meticulous, insightful, practical and deeply in love with most Pixar movies
Ability to execute in a cross-organizational role with a can-do collaborative approach
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Fluent English (written and spoken)
Location - Jerusalem (hybrid work model)
Reports to Corporate General Counsel
